We recommend beginning with the lightly cooked diet. While some nutrient loss can occur during cooking, gently heating to 160°F strikes the perfect balance. This temperature ensures food safety and enhances protein digestibility without causing significant loss of heat-sensitive vitamins. To preserve as many nutrients as possible, avoid overcooking and incorporate the natural cooking juices back into your dog’s meal.  This ensures every meal meets AAFCO standards for complete nutrition.

For a Lightly Cooked Diet:

• • Combine the meat and water, and gently heat to 160°F (just below boiling) to safely remove pathogens.
  • Add the 2 lbs Butchers Feast Proprietary Dehydrated Blend.  Allow to sit on lowest heat for 5 minutes and then mix for 5 minutes—using a wire potato masher works best.
  • Refrigerate for 24 hours to re-hydrate, then portion and store in freezer. Serve within two days of defrosting for maximum freshness

For a Raw Diet:
While raw diets can offer fresh, natural nutrition, it’s important to handle and prepare raw foods safely. Raw meat may contain naturally occurring bacteria that can pose a risk to both pets and humans if not stored or prepared properly. Always wash hands, utensils, and surfaces thoroughly after handling raw ingredients, and keep raw and cooked foods separate.

• • Mix the 5 lbs pack of premium meat with a gallon of fresh water.
  • Add the 2 lbs Butchers Feast Proprietary Dehydrated Blend and stir thoroughly for 5 minutes.
  • Let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for 24 hours to fully re-hydrate.
  • Portion into meal-sized containers and freeze. Serve within two days of defrosting for maximum freshness.

• • Each batch prepares approximately 25 lbs of delicious, nutrient-rich food. For a firmer mix, reduce water to 14 cups.
  • For peak vitamin and mineral potency, combine the meat and dehydrated blend within 48 hours of receiving your order.
  • Start with our base recipe, then customize with additions to meet your dog’s dietary or medical needs—like extra digestible carbs to lower protein percentage, or cooked eggs to boost protein. This ensures every meal meets AAFCO standards for complete nutrition.
